Aunt Dinah has blowed the horn (from the Opera Treemonisha) - S. Joplin

Aunt Dinah has blowed the horn (from the Opera Treemonisha) - S. Joplin

arr. Gerhart Drijvers for choir and band

For Choir and concert band.

The African-American ragtime composer Scott Joplin composed his opera Treemonisha in 1910 but it was not performed in its entirety until 1970, when the piano score was rediscovered. The music of Treemonisha includes an overture and prelude, along with various recitatives, choruses, small ensemble pieces, a ballet and a few arias. The Chorus Aunt Dinah has blowed the Horn is sung by a group of cotton pickers and placed at the very end of the second act. Blowing the Horn by Aunt Dinah is a sign for the workers that work is finished and that they can return home.
