Crucifixus - Jean-Baptiste Faure

Of Jean-Baptiste Fauré's compositions, two albums with songs in print were released. The best-known song compositions from it are above all ‘Crucifix vous qui pleurez’, but also ‘Les Rameaux’, ‘Sancta Maria’ and ‘The Palms’.

‘Crucifix vous qui pleurez’ (‘Crucifix’ or ‘Crucifixus’) became very popular and is recorded by Enrico Caruso, among others. Italian arranger Gottfried Veit transcribed this song for a brass ensemble consisting of a flugelhorn (cornet), three trumpets, four horns, four trombones, tuba and timpani.   BM1078
