Written by the 18th century poet, Seán Clárach Mac Dómhnaill, Mo Ghile Mear is a traditional Irish allegorical song in which the poet laments the departure of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie). This arrangement features the Irish single-headed frame drum, the bodhrán, but an alternative hand-played frame drum may be used as a substitute.
