The Foxchase - Shaun Davey
The Foxchase - Shaun Davey
Originally said to have been composed by Tipperary piper Edward Keating-Hyland in 1799. This version of The Foxchase was recorded by the Irish piper Liam O'Flynn (TARA3031) who first came into contact with the piece through Leo Rowsome and later encountered the very different Seamus Ennis version. Both versions have now evolved into this larger and more orchestrated piece arranged by Shaun Davey.
This epic piece is perhaps the best existing example of descriptive music composition in the Irish Traditional style, telling the story of the different phases in a typical late - eighteenth century foxhunt.
